I am unable to start windows in safe mode, that's not an option. You can hook it up to another system and check it with HD Tune or you can load a live CD like Knoppix and install smartmontools to check the S.M.A.R.T status... if you try to copy the ASMS file to other places from the CD, you will get an error, since the ASMS is not complete in the CD. It wouldn't even run regedit, just gave an error message like "command could not be completed" or somesuch.
How can tilting a N64 cartridge causes such subtle glitches? Restarted computer and now it will not let me boot from the CD fro a fresh try at the repair. Please let me know if you have any advice. She tried to do a SHIFT+F10, and nothing happened.
