So far, so good; lots of time and steps to do all this, but probably worth it go get things fixed. Have to say this SP1 stuff is a real pain. What did work was installing theMS System Update Readiness Tool - "Windows6.1-KB947821-v10-x64"(KB947821), http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=44e15787-66b0-4e9c-9c3b-1fc9ea40f69f(x86)or http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=914FBC5B-1FBA-4BAE-A7C3-D2C47C6FCFFC- (x64). Just double click the SP1 update file that you saved in either D:\ or E:\ drive. I also had the problem of Windows Modules Installer reverting to manual.
